From the recording A Cannon For Washington Square

There are cannons and other surplus military hardware from America's wars scattered about the country in city parks and town squares. World War One was certainly no exception. The notorious French 75mm field piece from that "War to end all wars" is ubiquitous. There is a fine example in Racine, Wisconsin. It is mounted in Washington Park on a cement crucifix, and it bears a bronze plaque which reads "For God And Country."
