I was watching 2001: A Space Odyssey some years ago and it seemed to me that the part of the brain that creates technology is so much further advanced than the part of the brain that controls emotion. The cave folk would not recognize the technological world that has been created but would understand immediately our wars, jealousies, bigotry, nationalism, and sexism. Instead of throwing rocks we now drop bombs.
